Offensive Power
Every shot you make on goal as an NHL player means something. It applies pressure, leading to eventual goals that are in part thanks to your effort. Not only does it help the team, but it also speaks to your individual mastery when it comes to precision and power. So let's sing the praises of these five amazing players who have the most shots on goal in a given season.
1. Phil Esposito - 1970-1971
With 550 shots on goal during the 1970 season, Phil Esposito still ranks number one even after all these years. If anything, that should tell you just how impressive this record is! Because with so many impressive hockey players these days, Esposito's stat still remains untouched over 50 years later.

2. Alex Ovechkin - 2008-2009
A name all hockey fans are familiar with, Alex Ovechkin is NHL royalty. An incredibly talented player, he ranks back-to-back on this list! He wowed fans with an amazing season back in 2008 with 528 shots on goal - the closest player to ever beating Esposito's record.
3. Alex Ovechkin - 2007-2008
Think we're done with Ovechkin? Imagine having two fantastic seasons one after another! In 2007, right before he broke his own record the very next year, he managed to get 446 shots on goal with the Washington Capitals.
4. Paul Kariya - 1998-1999
Sitting just below Ovechkin's record is Paul Kariya with a very solid 429 shots on goal in the 1998 season. Playing with the Anaheim Ducks, he was able to prove his amazing shooting abilities by landing all those shots.
5. Phil Esposito - 1971-1972
Phil Esposito may sit at the top of this very list, but he's also at the bottom. Making two appearances just like Ovechkin, this legendary player managed to perform incredibly well the year after reaching the top. In his 1971 season, Esposito landed an impressive 426 shots on goal, proving to everyone it wasn't a fluke.
