Let That City Pride Loose
We’re willing to bet that Canada is the first country you think of when you hear the word hockey. As much as their neighbors to the North love their puck drops, Americans have just as much interest in hockey, and in fact, some states would argue that their pride runs way deeper!
1. Minnesota
Minnesota has plenty to cheer for with the Wild on their side, but this community of hockey-lovers knows exactly how to show their love of the game. They have a hall of fame for locals and tourists alike to visit and even celebrate a multi-day festival called Hockey Day Minnesota!
2. Michigan
Street parties, socks on the ice, state-wide celebrations—you name it! No one knows how to party like Michigan, and when you’re a hockey fan, you have plenty to look forward to. These guys have parades and rallies, and a serious appreciation for college teams. Oh, and the Red Wings, of course!
3. Massachusetts
You don’t need to live in Massachusetts to know about the Boston Bruins! The team alone carries a rich history and devoted fan base, but this state goes above and beyond to show its love of the game. From community programs to high school traditions, Boston isn’t shy about donning the yellow and black.
4. New York
New York Rangers, anyone? Even if you aren’t the biggest hockey fan, this team has made serious waves in its career, and everyone’s at least heard of them. When you’re in New York, however, you celebrate them; the state hosts community events and is known to be a massive hub for hockey.
5. Illinois
The Chicago Blackhawks bring way more than an iconic jersey to the ice—they bring decades of history and a massive fan base that hasn’t faltered over the years! Illinois proudly hosts all kinds of hockey-related events and even specializes in youth programs.
