5 Aquatic Sports For Those Who Love The Water

Water Sport You Know And Love

Playing sports that take place in the water adds a whole new element of difficulty. Not only does it make it far more exhausting, but as we all know, water can be unpredictable and at times, even dangerous. But if you feel more at home in the water than on land, we know you'll love these five awesome sports that challenge you in new ways and open your eyes to what's possible.

1. Swimming

The most popular and common water sport has got to be swimming. Many learn it at a young age and see it more as a fun pastime than an intense sport. There are lots of different styles to learn, from backstroke to butterfly and dolphin kick. If you really put in the effort to swim laps and maintain a consistent pace, you'll see just how tiring this full-body sport can actually be.

2. Diving

Jumping off that diving board never seems too bad until you're actually near the edge, looking down at the water that seems miles below you. If you've ever watched this sport at the Olympics, you'll know that it's both extremely technical and dangerous if you make a mistake. Diving from those heights is no joke, and it requires a high level of mastery to keep your body safe while executing such complicated spins and turns.

3. Synchronized Swimming

Though swimming is in the name of this sport, it's very different from normal swimming. Think water dancing or water gymnastics - that feels a bit more apt! This beautiful sport that choreographs a large group to become one single unit, is more like art than anything else. When everyone works together and flows in one fluid movement, you'll be entranced watching the performance.

4. Water Polo

There's nothing more physically demanding than chasing after a ball in the water. Combining elements from various sports like swimming, soccer, and basketball, water polo is incredibly intense, and features two teams of seven fighting to score points in the opponent's net.

5. Surfing

Surfing looks incredibly cool and fun, especially when you're able to surf through one of those amazing water tubes, but trust us, this sport is a lot easier said than done. This extreme sport will put your athleticism to the test - everything from your balance to stamina has nowhere to hide! Not to mention, there are added elements of luck and danger involved.
