5 NBA Teams That Have Never Won A Championship

Plenty Of History, Still Waiting For The Banner

For every NBA team, becoming a championship winner is the dream. Though many have had the pleasure of holding up that trophy, there are still plenty of impressive teams that have yet to enjoy their grand parade moment. Here are 5 NBA teams that have never won the title just yet.

1. Phoenix Suns

Despite being around since 1968, the Phoenix Suns have yet to win a championship. They reached the NBA Finals in 1976, 1993, and 2021, but each trip ended in a loss. Still, the Suns remain one of those franchises that you have to look out for; you can never count them out!

2. Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz came closest to a championship win during the late 1990s, when they reached the Finals in 1997 and 1998. Unfortunately for Jazz fans, both series came against Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls, which was not exactly convenient timing.

3. Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers have a proud basketball identity, even if they're yet to obtain a championship title. They made the NBA Finals in 2000 and again in 2025, but both appearances ended in defeat.

4. Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets, formerly the New Jersey Nets, reached back-to-back NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003. Unfortunately, they were unable to close out both years, leading the team with empty hands ever since.

5. Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic have reached the NBA Finals twice, first in 1995 and then again in 2009, and while both runs gave fans memorable moments, neither ended with the trophy. However, for a relatively young franchise, two Finals appearances is seriously admirable and makes them worthy contenders every year.
