When Scenery is Part of the Game
When we watch sports, the last thing on our mind is what goes on in the background. We’re far too enamoured with our favorite teams and any bets on the line! But what about a sport where part of the charm is literally its scenery? It’s time we explored some of the nicest golf courses, and why they’re just as big as the game itself.
1. Augusta National Golf Park
Augusta is revered by both professional and amateur golfers alike. This stunning park is home to some of the biggest names in the sport and some of the most notorious backdrops throughout the early spring. It’s pretty hard to get into as a normal golfer, but you can always soak in the scenery on TV.
2. Pebble Beach
It’s hard to believe any golfer has the bandwidth to pay attention on this course! Set over blue waters and a picturesque sky, Pebble Beach is one of the most popular stages for professional players; it’s even featured in video games thanks to its impressive looks.
3. Bethpage Black
Bethpage is probably best reserved for those at home—unless you have years of experience under your belt, this gorgeous course can be more hazardous than harmonious. Despite its trees and lush green lawns, the first tee warns people of its dangers, emphasizing that it’s a difficult course!
4. Cape Kidnappers
Try not to let the name scare you away! Nestled in Hawke's Bay on New Zealand's North Island, golfers get a great ocean view and some time in the refreshing sea air. Just looking at it, it’s easy to see why it’s considered one of the best places to play.
5. Pine Valley
What’s better than a little history with your tee time? These beautiful trees have lined Pine Valley since 1913, letting golfers of all skills step foot into its well-preserved story. It’s so incredible, in fact, that it’s often considered one of the top courses in America.
